‘Anytime’ Tourism Advice Launched
Three trial bluetooth broadcasting terminals will be placed around Aviemore in UK. Tourists who activate the bluetooth reception on their mobile phones would be able to find details of local summer events from 10 July 2009. They no longer need to dependent on when tourist information centres opened.
If the trial is successful, it will be expanded to give information on last minute room availability, things to do, places to eat or drink, events listings for the area and local promotions.

Tourists Picking Up Information about Slovenia via Bluetooth
At the baggage claim area of the Slovenia Airport, tourists can pick up more than just their luggage. Using the bluetooth feature on their mobile phones, they can download tourist information and coupons for their stay in Slovenia.
The fact that travelers are already accustomed to receiving text messages from local phone providers when they land at a foreign airport makes this bluetooth message seems like more of a natural fit.

National Park Centre becomes Bluetooth hotspot
“The great thing is that people can download it onto their mobile phone or PDA by just standing on the bluetooth ‘hotspot’ outside the National Park Centre and following the step-by-step instructions posted in the window. You can access it when the centre is closed, it needs no phone signal to work and it’s completely free.” said the Yorkshire Dales National Park Interpretation Officer.

Canadian Tourism Commission nabs 2009 Adrian Award for Using Bluetooth Marketing
Canadian Tourism Commission nabbed a silver award for using the leading-edge Bluetooth technology to showcase original Canadian vacation experiences. The campaign was extraordinarily successful, with over 40% of the people contacted “clicking through” to learn more about Canada. The prestigious annual awards handed out by the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) honour top companies and leaders in hospitality, travel and tourism advertising, public relations as well as web marketing.

RocketBoat Drives Ticket Sales Using Bluetooth Marketing
In October 2008, RocketBoat launched two, five-day Bluetooth marketing campaigns, both had generated strong results. Opt-in rates were a brisk 26 percent, and redemption rates for the downloaded offers averaged 18 percent. More than 50 percent of visitors to PIER 39 who download the first piece of content download additional promotional items from other PIER 39 businesses such as Hard Rock Cafe.

Bluetooth Castle
At Raglan Castle, a late medieval castle located in the county of Monmouthshire in south east Wales, the officials that managed it ran a trial to distribute audio files to visitors’ mobile phones using Bluetooth.
According to Tom at Lexemetch.com, “As I walked through the entrance I simply made my phone discoverable, waited a few seconds for the MP3 to download, then started listening to a guided tour of the castle. It’s a great use of the technology: it just worked…”

The Northern Ireland Tourist Board has launched a new marketing campaign to pull travellers towards its place.
According to Fermanagh Herald, “Visitor attractions such as Marble Arch Caves European Geopark and Enniskillen Castle will feature strongly in the £1 million campaign. Cutting edge technologies such as bluetooth advertising will be used, while two-wheel Segways will be used to spread the message…”
